Light Rain on Snow Fields

Mist Rising December is

Restless Before Sleep

There are times when I look out on the prairie behind our house and I feel like I’ve caught a glimpse of Nature going about its business.  I lean in trying to hear more clearly what she’s saying, but it’s a little like to trying to make sense of that slightly disheveled old guy shuffling down the street not making eye contact, mumbling to himself.  There’s an undeniable reality there, but no clear point of access, no mutual exchange.  Nature is nature doing its thing for its own reasons.  Landscape portraiture isn’t only about the big dramatic mountain views and sunsets.  Sometimes it’s just a moment of renewal amid the cycle of the seasons. Sometimes it’s just a damp, cloudy, restless December day out on the prairie.
